States Members from both islands gave their THANKS to JTTA for hosting the Jersey v Guernsey Sports Day table tennis competition at the Geoff Reed Centre (12.30pm-2.30pm), which takes place on an annual basis between the two islands. It gives a great opportunity to share our sport and for our politicians to have the opportunity to discuss pan island matters in an informal manner. Please follow the gallery link for photos taken by Paul Routier.

Jersey’s Open Top Qualifiers from Saturday, 11 January, (10am - 2.30pm) played against Guernsey’s top qualified players at the Geoff Reed Centre, FB Fields. Guernsey were the winners this year with Josh Stacey taking the senior winners cup. Jersey’s Mariusz Cieminski gained 2nd place with Guernsey’s Paul Hainsworth coming 3rd.
The qualifying 6 carry their head to head results through to the next stage which will see them face their Guernsey counterparts at the Geoff Reed Centre on 25 January. Leon Pierre is unbeaten within that group as he secured first time wins against Mariusz Cieminski, Grzegorz Frankowski and Jack Mills. The event is a welcome return to table tennis action for Grzegorz Frankowski who carries two losses through, whilst Mariusz has the one loss to carry through. Jack Mills, Alfie Sutherland and Hannah Silcock make up the remaining trio, and will be hoping to influence the final standing order on 25 January.
Eugene Ellis and Chris Morshead have had to pull out, so the six players who play their Guernsey counterparts in Jersey on 25 January are:
Leon Pierre; Mariusz Ciemiski; Grzegorz Frankowski; Jack Mills; Alfie Sutherland & Hannah Silcock

Last weekend saw the first ever Jersey primary schools table tennis event at the Geoff Reed Table Tennis Centre, sponsored by PwC and 5 boys and girls teams from La Moye, St Michael’s and Trinity Schools played each other in a round robin format.
There was little to separate the teams by the end but the St Michael’s duo of Theo De Poerck and Robbie Kerley finally took the honours, just pipping La Moye and JTTA President, Paul Routier MBE, presented the PwC trophies and certificates.
Audrey Tupper, who organised the event said, “We were super excited to run the event with PwC. The children were given 2 challenges – to listen and learn and also to enjoy themselves. We had a really fun afternoon and after non-stop table tennis for an hour and a half they had picked up lots of tips about playing and the rallies got longer and more varied as they got their eye in and tried out different shots. We were thrilled with their focus, enthusiasm and gamesmanship and look forward to some of them coming along to our beginners sessions on Saturdays and Sundays (12.00-1.00pm) to learn a bit more about the game.”
