A round robin for U9s took place at GRTTC on Saturday along with knock out rounds for U11, U13 & U15B for the Island Championships 2022. IMAGES / VIDEO by Paul Routier of the event are now available in the GALLERY.
On Tuesday Steven Anderson from the JEP chose table tennis to do his “Tryout Tuesday” at the Jersey Table Tennis Association’s Bat & Chat session and reported on his experience.

Jersey Table Tennis Association was nominated for a CI SPORTS AWARD after the great successes of our Jersey top players in many tournaments and the free coaching programme given to the next generation of Jersey table tennis players during 2021. Paul Router (President) and Martin Tupper (Vice President & Head Coach) attended the event on behalf of JTTA at Beau Sejour, Guernsey. CONGRATULATIONS must go to Jersey Cricket for winning the overall award.

Following the recent Senior Top 10 qualifier to find the Jersey Top 6 the CI Senior Top 12 took place at GRTTC against Guernsey on Saturday. Guernsey took the top three places with Hannah Silcock for Jersey in fourth place -

CONGRATULATIONS to Hannah Silcock for winning GOLD in the Under 21’s and getting to the semi finals of the Women’s Open in Cardiff. This has been Hannah’s most successful weekend since moving up to senior competitions in the UK.
The Bat & Chatters Xmas Lunch took place this year at the Dolphin Hotel, Gorey, and was organised by Barbara. Fun was had by all with no casualties! Visit the GALLERY for snapshots.
The Channel Islands Junior Top 12 was held by GTTA in Guernsey on Sunday. The Top 6 Jersey players who qualified at the Junior Top 12 Qualifier on 13 October, 2021 competed against Guernsey. WELL DONE to the top three Jersey winners:

The 2021 Island Championships was held at GRTTC over one week. All matches were straight knockouts through to and including the final. Due to the COVID pandemic, there was no separate finals session. Some great table tennis played especially for our younger players who played in their first ever island championship. CONGRATULATIONS to Jersey Men’s Senior Champion -
After missing out last year, Ken Quirk’s Bat & Ball team came over to Jersey to get their revenge. They did well and triumphed over Jersey with a score of 72 against 43.
CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners resulting in 10 medals for Jersey. All players performed well against the best players in the country.
Scotland were playing on home soil and competed against teams from England, Wales, Ireland and Jersey for the coveted trophies and for the accolade of being crowned British Champions.

FREE coaching sessions have been provided by JTTA during term time with funding awarded by the Jersey Community Foundation to inspire a new generation of table tennis enthusiasts. Attendance has been very encouraging and the children very much enjoyed the opportunity to try out table tennis for the first time with many coming back for more. The Junior Top 12 Qualifier was held this week at the Geoff Reed sponsored by ALTAIR PARTNERS. Matches were the best of 7 straight knockouts resulting in the Junior Top 6 who qualfiied to enter the finals later this year in Guernsey.

The JTTA Council recently met and it was unanimously decided to award Stan Smith an HONORARY MEMBERSHIP for his tremendous contribution to the Association that he gave in establishing the extremely successful BAT & CHAT sessions started some years ago.
Great start to the season for Jersey’s Hannah Silcock winning the first under 15 4 Star Tournament in Blackpool on the 11 September.

The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey have confirmed two table tennis players will represent the Island at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Teenager Hannah Silcock will compete in the women’s singles while 22-

President of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey, Paul du Feu, said: “We were pleased to get official confirmation through that Hannah and Jordan had been allocated places in the singles events. I’m sure they will both represent Jersey proudly and we wish them well in their preparations over the next few months ahead of a really exciting summer.
President of the Jersey Table Tennis Association, Paul Routier, added: “We’re extremely pleased that Games organisers have recognised the recent successful playing achievements of Jordan Wykes and Hannah Silcock. Both Jordan and Hannah have been competing at a high level across the UK and Europe and have earned their place in Jersey’s Commonwealth Games team. The Association is really proud of the development of Jersey table tennis in recent years.”
The inclusion of the two table tennis players brings the number of Jersey competitors confirmed for Birmingham 2022 to 18. The first 16 athletes named to represent the Island were announced in October last year. The next tranche of athletes to join the growing team will be selected in the next few days, with the Games beginning on Thursday, 28 July.

The Secondary Schools International Championships was hosted in Largs, Scotland. The event involved teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man and Guernsey, with age categories under 14, under 16 and under 18 for both girls and boys. Altair were the sponsors for Team Jersey.

This primary school championship took place at the Geoff Reed Table Tennis Centre, FB Fields.
CONGRATULATIONS to Anna & Christine who won the doubles tournament with Leandro & Rodrigo as runners up AND to Anna who won the singles with Riley as the runner up.
The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey CGAJ confirmed the itinerary for the Jersey leg of the Queen’s Baton relay. Sports representatives, school children and the public had the opportunity to see and be photographed with the baton as the build up to the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham continues.

each took their turn to be the bearer of the baton during a 100m run around the FB Fields athletic track. They were accompanied by the Altair Junior Academy.
To celebrate the arrival of the Queens Commonwealth Relay Baton in Jersey, volunteers were invited to the FB Fields by Jersey Sport to thank them for their contribution to sport and physical activity in their various roles. They had the opportunity of holding and being photographed with the baton.

The Inter Insulars were held in Guernsey. Winners of the Island Championships 2022 held in Jersey in March travelled to Guernsey to compete. The over all score was Guernsey 61 Jersey 49.
Thank you to our hosts at Guernsey Table Tennis Association who are celebrating their 100 year anniversary this year. It was great to hold the event again and we look forward to welcoming them in 2023 when we hold the event in Jersey.

The Island Championships were held in Guernsey. CONGRATULATIONS to Jersey Table Tennis for winning 17 of the 20 Channel Island titles on Friday evening in Guernsey. Hannah Silcock did well to be part of winning 4 titles in the Women’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, U18 Girls and the U18 Doubles. Leon Pierre and Mariusz Cieminski also won many titles between them as well.

The Guernsey Table Tennis Association welcomed teams from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Jersey for the 2022 edition of the Primary Schools International.
For the first time in 17 years we are ecstatic to be able to field our first ever boys and girls team in the British Primary Schools Table Tennis event in Guernsey this weekend.
We are really grateful to ALTAIR PARTNERS who are the Sponsors of our Junior Table Tennis Academy. Altair have provided the kit for the weekend. Their sponsorship has helped to grow participation in table tennis Jersey. The level of competition will be high but will be a great experience for all involved.
